Great (German) gifts for Koreans

Tolle (deutsche) Geschenke für Koreaner

If you are ever invited by a Korean family or have visitors from Korea, you are probably wondering what would be a great gift for Koreans, right? Don't worry, we have some great ideas for you!

It may be surprising, but many Koreans are more familiar with German products than some Germans themselves. From well-known cosmetic brands to high-quality household goods, Germany has a lot to offer that is highly valued in Korea.

A classic that can be found in almost every household is German cosmetics. Brands such as Nivea, Eucerin, Kamill, Physiogel, Diaderma and Ajona have made a name for themselves and are highly valued by Koreans. When it comes to gifts for children, wooden toys are particularly popular. Brands such as Grimms and Hape stand for high quality and are very well known in Korea. Of course, something sweet should not be missing! German chocolate (e.g. from Ritter Sport) or sweets from Haribo are very popular in Korea. Whether as a souvenir for friends or a gift for the family, German treats are always well received! German household items from well-known manufacturers such as Zwilling, WMF, Silit, Fissler are also generally very popular... But be careful with knives and scissors! For some Koreans, these could symbolize the severing of the relationship and therefore be seen as an inappropriate gift.

By the way, it is also considered inappropriate to give your partner shoes as a gift: shoes symbolize that you are “running away from the relationship”! Philipp thinks that this is a very good rule! ;)

All in all, there are many great ways to give a "little piece of Germany" as a gift, which will certainly bring great joy.
