Dalgona Cookie: A traditional Korean sweet
Dalgona was a popular street snack in the 1970s to 1980s in South Korea and even today you can sometimes still find a vendor selling it on the street.
It is a type of biscuit that is usually very flat and round in shape. It is made from melted sugar and baking powder and a special shape (e.g. a star, a tree, a heart or similar) is always printed onto the cookie with a metal stamp. If you manage to successfully bite off the path around the outline of the symbol without breaking the candy, you can pick up another cookie from the seller for free! Of course, this was great fun for children and Dalgona cookies are a happy childhood memory for all Koreans!
Dalgona became known worldwide through the successful series “Squid Game”, which appeared on Netflix in 2021. The children's game described above becomes a deadly competition in which the players were punished with death for breaking Dalgona.
Since Dalgona cookies are very fragile, we unfortunately cannot send them whole: This variant is therefore already broken cookies!
