My Neighbor Totoro: Butter Dish with Wooden Lid

Do you remember the scene in “My Neighbor Totoro” where Satsuki and Mei wait for the bus with their homemade bentos? Good food, packed with care – at Studio Ghibli that always carries a special magic. This My Neighbor Totoro butter dish with a wooden lid brings exactly that feeling to your breakfast table.

The body of enameled sheet steel shows Totoro hiding among delicate wild strawberries. Enamel is not only good to look at, it is also hygienic, acid-resistant and bacteria-inhibiting: in production, glass is fused onto steel, giving a closed surface that nothing soaks into. The warm natural wood lid rounds it off with a touch of forest magic – wood and forest spirit simply belong together.

With a capacity of 500 ml, more fits in than just butter: an opened piece of cheese, herb butter you stirred yourself, leftover cold cuts. At W 158 × H 105 × D 74 mm the dish stands in the fridge door as happily as in the middle of a laid table – and there it need not hide. Instead of refolding the butter paper every morning, you just flip the wooden lid open.

It is not made for microwave or dishwasher. Wash both parts by hand, dry the wooden lid and do not leave it standing in water, then it stays beautiful for a long time; the enamel needs only a soft sponge instead of steel wool. Officially licensed by Studio Ghibli and made in Japan – a gift for everyone who loves Ghibli, enjoys breakfast and treats the kitchen as a room rather than a corridor.
